Having a comprehensive onboarding plan is critical to retaining employees and keeping them happy and productive. It includes acclimating the new employee to the culture of the department, introducing them to the team and other key stakeholders, and creating a plan for training.

Onboarding should also include introducing employees to policies, procedures, and expectations. It’s worthwhile to establish behavior norms and expectations up front to prevent having to address issues or correct behaviors later. Taking the time to create and execute a thorough onboarding plan is well worth the time and will ensure you set up your new employee up for success!
