You want to take time to prepare for your new hire so they feel welcome and happy about their decision to join your team. Here are some steps to ensure your new employee is set up for success! Please note, in some departments these tasks are completed by the HR representative.

- Overview of department key responsibilities
- Directory with contact information
- Schedule for the first week and first day checklist
- Brief overview of the new person, their role, and a few resume highlights
- Copy team on email
- Explain importance
- Explain new employee’s role
- Helps employee feel empowered and capable
- Exposes employee to tasks
- Serves as a resource for assignments, policies, procedures, and workplace norms
- Provides encouragement and feedback
- Schedules regular check-ins with new employee

Identify trainings that are critical to key job duties and indicate what needs to be taken
- In the first month
- In the second-third month
- In the third-fourth month
Group trainings together (for example, all PCard training, Accounting training, and HR training)
- Consider pre-requisites and what needs to be taken first
